NCAAF Week 2

It’s crazy to think we are already going into this week of the college football season.  Last week we went 6-4 ATS with our Top 10 leans.  We look to continue the success in our NCAAF Week 2 ParadisePicks’ Power Rankings.

1.)  Alabama

Roll Tide Roll.  The Crimson Tide covered the -37 point spread with ease against Arkansas State.  Alabama officially moves to 2-0 on the year (2-0 against the spread too) and has a trip to Ole Miss on deck.  Currently, the Tide is -21 point favorite against the Rebels and we see no reason why they won’t cover the spread.  Sure Ole Miss has talent, but they are in the middle of a transition period.  Alabama should be able to score at will against the Rebels.  Lean:  Alabama -21

2.)  Clemson

What a game in College Station!  The Aggies gave the Tigers all they could handle for 4 quarters.  Jimbo Fisher has clearly put his stamp on the program, and expect to see the Aggies challenge for the SEC West.  However, Clemson made plays and got the stops when they needed them.  They didn’t cover the -12 point spread (0-2 ATS), but they should be happy to escape week 2 with a W. Don’t be surprised if Georgia Southern keeps within the +34 point spread.  The Tigers are coming off an emotional win, and the Eagles should be able to score a few times.  Note – Hurricane Florence could impact this game.  Lean – Georgia Southern +34

3.)  Georgia

The Bulldogs move up one spot in the Paradise Picks’ Power Rankings. South Carolina is a contender in the SEC East, and the Bulldogs steamrolled over them.  They took an interception to the house right out of the gate.  It was clear that Georgia was the better team early on.  Middle Tennessee is coming to Athens this week as Georgia looks to improve to 3-0 (1-1 ATS).  Middle Tennessee  only scored 7 points against Vanderbilt week 1 and allowed 37 points to some team called the Skyhawks in week 2.  Currently, the Bulldogs are -32.5 favorites.   What do you think Georgia will do?  Lean:  Georgia -32.5

4.)  Ohio State

The Buckeyes slide down one spot this week, but not because of anything they did wrong.  It’s more about the teams ahead of them beating quality opponents.  Ohio State dominated Big Ten foe Rutgers in week 2 improving to 2-0 (2-0 ATS).  This week they travel to Dallas, TX to face a Top 15 opponent in TCU.  This game should light up the score board.  It will be interesting to see how Ohio State plays in a big game without coach Meyer (final week of suspension).  Currently, the buckeyes are -13 points favorites.  Will they cover?  Lean:  Ohio State -13

5.) Auburn

War Eagles moves to 2-0 on the year (2-0 ATS) after demolishing the Hornets of Alabama State.  Obviously, this wasn’t much of a challenge for the Tigers.  However, this week is a different story with LSU coming to town.  Is LSU for real?  Can Auburn handle the Tigers physicality?  These questions will be answered at 3:30 PM on Saturday.  Currently the Tigers are -10 point favorites.  Are the Tigers really two scores better than the Tigers from Baton Rouge?  Lean:  LSU +10

6.)  Wisconsin

The Badgers are doing what they are supposed to be doing right now, and that is beating teams that are not as talented as them.  However, they haven’t looked that impressive to start the year.  Yes, they are 2-0 after beating New Mexico last week (0-2 ATS), but they could have looked better.  Jonathan Taylor is doing his thing, and the offense gets back WR Danny Davis this week which should help.  BYU comes to Madison for Week 3 with a 1-1 record, but very easily could be 2-0 after taking Cal to the wire.  Currently, the Badgers are -21 point favorites.  Is this the week they put it all together?  Lean:  Wisconsin -21

7.)  Oklahoma

Boy, oh boy, have the Sooners impressed this season.  They have demolished FAU & UCLA in back-to-back weeks moving to a 2-0 record (2-0 ATS).  However, they did lose star running back, Rodney Anderson for the season.  This week, the Sooners take their talents to Ames, Iowa to take on the Cyclones.  As you remember, the Cyclones went into Norman last year and stole a victory.  Currently the Sooners sit at -18 point favorites.  Can the Cyclones do it again this time on their home turf?  Lean:  Iowa State +18

8.)  Notre Dame

The Irish came off an emotional week 1 victory of the Wolverines, and looked sluggish in week 2 against Ball State (ParadisePicks Lock!).  This week, the Irish have Vanderbilt coming to South Bend out of the SEC.  The Irish have really struggled on offense through the first two games ranking 94th overall.  Brandon Wimbush is a threat to take it to the house every time he runs, but has really struggled passing the ball (1 TD to 4 INT’s).  The Commodores come to town with a  solid defense and a great running game.  Expect Vanderbilt to control the clock.  Currently, the Irish are -14.5 point favorites.  That seems like a little too high.  Lean:  Vanderbilt +14.5

9.)  Washington

The Huskies got back to their winning ways in Week 2 against North Dakota improving to 1-1 (0-2 ATS).  This week they travel to Utah to take on the Utes.  Washington has everything in front of them still when it comes to playing for the PAC 12 Championship and College Football Playoffs but they badly need to win this game.  Currently, Utah sits at 2-0 and they are no easy out in their home building.  The Huskies open up at -6.5 favorites against the Utes.  The question is can the Utes keep up?  Lean:  Washington – 6.5

10.) Virginia Tech

2-0! (2-0 ATS)  The Hokies will take it.  After going into Tallahassee and taking it the Noles the Hokies kept the peddle to the metal against William & Mary winning 62-17.  This week ECU comes to down after beating North Carolina.  It will be interesting to see if Va Tech can keep the momentum going.  Currently, the line sits at -28 for the Hokies.  Lean – East Carolina University +28
