Atlanta Falcons Draft Preview; 2016 Schedule Released
With the NFL Draft set to begin on April 28th, let’s take a look at this year’s Atlanta Falcons Draft Preview and schedule.
Atlanta Falcons’ Draft Preview
With the #17 overall pick, look for the Atlanta Falcons to go hard after a defensive pass rusher. The Falcons have traditionally had decent linebacker corps, but we have seen that become somewhat depleted the last few seasons by Falcons’ standards.
They are ideally looking for not only a consistent playmaker, but someone who can command the defensive unit on the field – a captain-like presence in the middle. Landing a Top-5 talent like Jaylon Smith out of Notre Dame would be the kind of player they’re seeking, but with an ankle injury in early January, he may not even be available to play right away. This will most likely force the Falcons to look elsewhere.
Atlanta could also use some help deep in the secondary, but are they willing to sacrifice an early round pick to snag one? Probably not.
Falcons’ Top Prospects
Pass Rusher – Joey Bosa (Ohio State), DeForest Buckner (Oregon), Leonard Floyd (Georgia)
S – Keanu Neal (Florida), Karl Joseph (West Virginia), Miles Killebrew (Southern Utah)
