NBA Draft Lottery Results and Mock Lottery Picks

Now that we know the order of the NBA Draft, let’s take a look at this year’s NBA Draft Lottery Results.

There was a lot of buzz surrounding this year’s NBA Draft Lottery selection. One of the biggest questions coming into tonight was where the Los Angeles Lakers would fall in the draft. Coming off their worst season in franchise history, they were hoping for a top-three draft pick.

If they were to fall out of the top three, then their pick would be given to the Philadelphia 76ers — due to protections under the 2012 Steve Nash trade. With that being said, the 76ers would’ve loved for the Lakers to fall out of the top three, especially since they had a very good chance at a top-three pick themselves.

Pre-Selection Controversy

What’s a sporting event now-a-days without a little controversy. With all of the controversy talk surrounding NBA refs this season — especially this postseason — I never would’ve imagined seeing that same vibe at the lottery selection.

However, that vibe arrived just hours before the event started. Former NBA player, Dikembe Mutombo — most notably known for his finger wag — made a tweet a couple hours before the event that caused a lot of buzz. His tweet was congratulating the Philadelphia 76ers on their No. 1 draft pick. Keep in mind, they hadn’t officially won it yet.

Mutombo quickly deleted the tweet, which prompted a follow-up:

“Sorry guys. Got excited about the [76ers] odds and got ahead of myself. Still keeping my fingers crossed for tonight.”

The NBA Draft will be held on June 23rd in New York.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at this year’s NBA Draft Lottery Results.
