With all eyes on March Madness, Tiger Woods’ return slowly creeps back up in the golf world.
The matchup of the weekend doesn’t come on the basketball courts. What you should be watching this weekend is Tiger Woods’ return.
Woods started the tournament with a score of 68 ending day one only a few strokes back of the leader. However, his second day didn’t go as well. His opening drive was a duck hook into the trees that led to a bogey. He would end up giving two strokes back on the front nine to fall to -2 for the tournament.
His back nine would end up better as he birdied both par 5s getting himself back to 4 under. On the par 3 17th he sent a beauty right next to the flag that rolled out. His birdie putt leaked just right of the hole, and he stayed 4 under heading into the par 4 18th. His drive on 18 was nuked right down the middle leaving himself a great angle into the green. He sent his approach shot into the back of the green which ended up rolling back down towards to hole. His putt was easy enough but barely lipped out sending the big cat to his knees. He finished the day 7 back of the lead.
Tiger Woods’ Return?
Tiger has won 8 out of his 16 times playing in the event, and after his great performance last week Tiger looks prime for another weekend run. Although Friday’s round seemed to be a tough one he showed a lot of resilience in a round that could’ve easily gotten away from him. Tiger will head into moving day needing to make a serious move, but if he can get off to a hot start the course will be buzzing with energy. Hopefully for Tiger Woods’ return, he can make Sunday actually matter, and if it does it will almost certainly be better to watch then any college basketball game.
It was a great two weeks of being in contention again. I feel like I’m getting a little better. Great playing by Rory today to win at the King’s place. Arnie would have been proud of golf today and the charges!!!
