Los Angeles Rams vs. Dallas Cowboys: Preseason Week 1 Preview

Los Angeles Rams

Los Angeles Rams

Saturday will mark the Rams’ first game back in Los Angeles since they departed to St. Louis in 1994. They were LA’s football team from 1946 up until their departure, but are now back to represent one of the biggest markets in all of sports.

The Rams will look to bring excitement to a city that has been without football for quite some time. And the feedback they’ve received so far has been great, with nearly 91,000 fans planning on being in attendance. That number would be good enough to fill the entire arena. Sure preseason games aren’t really that big of a deal, but when this many people are coming to watch, you better give them something to talk about.

Along with the Rams making their LA debut, their rookie quarterback will be making his NFL debut. The team recently announced that Case Keenum will get the start, which only means that Jared Goff will get even more playing time to get accustomed to the change of pace. There’s still speculation as to whether Goff will start come Week 1 of the regular season, but if he ever has a chance to earn that spot, it’s now.

Another rookie to look out for is Josh Forrest, the only defender that was drafted by the team this year. Although he might not see a lot of time with the first-team linebacker core, he is set to be a valuable piece on special teams. If anything, the transition form special teams to starter will be easier than just flat out starting.

Also, Pharoh Cooper and Tyler Higbee will look to add depth to a receiving core that has struggled in recent years. Cooper and Higbee were both grabbed in the fourth round of this year’s draft.

The game is set to kick off at 8:00 PM tomorrow and can be watched on ESPN.

That’s right, football is finally back.
