When the news first broke, many Los Angeles Lakers’ fans were bummed and worried.

That can all change now. Good news was delivered last Friday when the Lakers’ second-year forward, Larry Nance Jr., had an MRI done of his injured hand. Although it was originally listed as a possible fracture, the MRI revealed that it was a just a sprained wrist.

After receiving the good news, the Lakers changed Nance’s status to day-to-day and that he would sit out the Lakers’ final Summer League game against the Utah Jazz.

Nance injured the hand in the closing seconds of the their Thursday game vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers. As he drove to the basket, a Cavaliers’ player stood strong and drew a charge on Nance. As a result, Nance hit the ground fairly rough and landed on what looked like his wrist.

At first, it was seen as a huge blow to the Lakers, especially since he has been one of the Lakers’ standout players this Summer League in Las Vegas. New head coach, Luke Walton, has already backed the young player up and voiced his level of surprise at Nance’s improvements:

“The little things he does on a basketball court are just, they’re everything that help make a team win games. Then you add on the fact that he has the skill and he’s starting to knock down jump shots out to the three-point line, and the athleticism to be special […] the overall picture of what he’s done so far has been incredible.”

The Los Angeles Lakers finished their Summer League with a game against the Utah Jazz. It was another loss, but overall a good game for the young Lakers. They lost 92-88, but got big games from Brandon Ingram and Ivica Zubac. Ingram finished with 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting, while Zubac finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks.

The team has definitely showed promise so far this summer.

In other news, three Lakers’ players are working out for Team USA right now: D’Angelo Russell, Julius Randle and rookie Brandon Ingram. Wish them luck!
